What is Weirdo Book Club?
Weirdo Book Club is more than just a clever name, I assure you. It is a blog, a social media presence, a book club and more which I will now detail for you in full. We will start where all great stories start: at the beginning. You wanted the long version, after all so you shall have it!
Hopefully by the end of this post you will have found what you were looking for, gotten answers to any of your questions and maybe even gotten involved in one or two of the things we do!
So what is Weirdo Book Club?
Two best friends reading books together.
This is how it started. Such humble beginnings.
In the winter of 2022, a hate read brought Hannah and I (Natalie) together in a way we couldn’t have anticipated.
The book? Flock by Kate Stewart.
The consensus? Hated it.
The outcome? Weirdo Book Club.
After buddy reading 10 books that month, Hannah suggested that we find a way to document all of the books we read. I said “say less” and proceeded to do the most.
I did a quick search of fun usernames that were up for grabs, sketched up a rough draft for a logo after settling on WBC and got to work setting up the first internet presence(s) for Weirdo Book Club…
an IG, TikTok, Blog
We were excited to get started and join the online bookish community and these seemed like great places to start! Our Instagram would be used mainly to share pics of the books we were reading, our TikTok would serve as a way of sharing bite sized mini reviews of those books in video form and the blog would marry both of those ideas and allow us to expand on the reviews in a way only a blog could.
Bring back blogs 2025!
It was a lot of fun connecting with other book lovers and sharing book recommendations, etc. but one thing was for sure… Despite what the name implied, we were not and definitely were not going to be…
A Book Club
::applies clown make up::
Hand to our hearts, we were not planning to do this, the name really was just meant to be that - a name. A name that implied that anyone who followed us on social media was in our unofficial book club. Just a few months after starting all of this, we started an official book club so we could read in community with y’all and man, we have had so much fun.
As an official book club, we hope to make diversify our shelves, try new things/genres, cultivate a chill environment for folks to read in community and make reading fun again! It is an unexpected bonus to have made some friends along the way.
If you want to join our book club, you are absolutely invited, we’d love to have you. The book club is very relaxed, reading/discussing is not mandatory to be in the club. You can participate as much as you’re comfortable or not at all, just lurk and maybe get some book titles to add to your TBR.
Hannah is the main person behind the book club.
She organizes/hosts the monthly virtual meetings and is always the first to see/respond to new messages in the Fable app.

First come socials, next comes book club and then comes…
A YouTube Channel
This is my (Natalie) domain, hear me roar. In the summer of 2022, one of my hate reads angered me so much that I knew a 3 minute TikTok could not be expected to contain my rage. This prompted me to turn to YouTube and the long format content I am now most known for. That first review, filmed in my hot garage helped kickstart my channel; a place where my suffering, your entertainment and mindful discourse are always on the menu.
Basically, I am a yapper and I read things so you don’t have to. If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, click here to subscribe to my YouTube channel.
A Podcast
The newest addition to the list of things we do, the podcast is near and dear to my heart. I love podcasts so much and I have heard from several folks on YouTube that they put my videos on when they’re doing chores, grocery shopping or even as they drift off to sleep. I thought a podcast would be perfect for that since I, myself, fall asleep to podcasts every night. The podcast features the audio versions of popular YouTube videos, book lists (what I read this month, my favorite ghost stories, etc.) and movie reviews. It is my goal for 2025 to also offer recaps of the book club meetings in podcast form too for anyone who can’t make the meetings or likes to listen to group book discussions. The podcast will be a place where a bunch of ideas live. You can listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
There are a few other things here and there that we do/offer (Patreon, Bindery, Discord, etc.) but those belong on a different post so I will wrap things up here for now. Thank you for reading the long version of what Weirdo Book Club is. I hope it answered all your questions. If not, feel free to leave them below! Take care and we hope to see you around the internet sometime.
